DirecTV threw shade at the Denver Broncos in listing for Sunday’s game vs. Chiefs

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has broken a number of records during his career, but on Sunday he could do something unprecedented in NFL history.

If the Chiefs beat the Broncos, Mahomes will be a perfect 13-0 against Denver in his career. According to NBC Sports’ Michael David Smith, no quarterback has ever defeated an opponent in each of his first 13 games against the team.

“The only other quarterback to start his career 12-0 against any opponent was Otto Graham, who led the Cleveland Browns to a perfect 12-0 mark against the Chicago Cardinals from 1950 to 1955,” Smith wrote.

The Chiefs have won 16 straight games against the Denver Broncos dating to the 2015 season.

Guess who took note of that winning streak?

It was DirecTV, which poked fun at the Broncos in its listing for Sunday’s game. Fox 4 sports anchor Harold Kuntz shared a screengrab of the listing on X (née Twitter).

Someone at DirecTV did their homework when he or she wrote: “The Chiefs (6-1) try for their 17th straight win over the Broncos (2-5). Denver last defeated Kansas City in 2015, when KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes was a sophomore at Texas Tech. The Chiefs beat the Broncos 19-8 at Arrowhead Stadium on Oct. 12.”

Mentioning how young Mahomes was in 2015 was a nice bit of shade from DirecTV, right?

By the way, that last Broncos’ victory over the Chiefs came on Mahomes’ 20th birthday (Sept. 17, 2015).
