KC fans were furious CBS went with split-screen coverage during Sunday’s Chiefs game

The Chiefs were driving on their opening possession of Sunday’s game against the Chargers at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, but TV viewers in Kansas City didn’t have a good way of following the action.

That’s odd, right?

It’s because CBS Sports made the unusual decision to show both the Chiefs-Chargers game and the Browns-Colts contest, which had kicked off at noon.

Cleveland rallied for the victory with a late score, and CBS made an even stranger decision of having the audio of Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta in Indianapolis instead of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo in Kansas City.

An apparent 48-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Jerick McKinnon was wiped off the board because of a penalty, but viewers in KC could only hear Dedes and Archuleta talking about the Colts-Browns action.

CBS had originally cut away from the Browns-Colts game with less than 2 minutes to play and showed the very start of the action at Arrowhead Stadium. Then the network went with the split-screen and fans in Kansas City were furious.

Chiefs fans in other parts of the country were not happy that they couldn’t see the start of the game against the Chargers at all, because CBS stayed with Browns-Colts game.

Here’s what Chiefs fans in Kansas City were saying about the split-screen.
