“Saturday Night Live” returned to the airwaves for the first time since the writers’ strike ended, and it should come as no surprise the show took aim at one of the biggest stories in the nation.

I’m talking about the relationship between Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and superstar singer Taylor Swift.

“SNL” didn’t poke fun at Kelce and Swift, but rather how much interest there is in the couple. Yeah, I called them a couple, and the proof is in the photos of their date night before the show.

The skit starred Kenan Thompson as Fox Sports’ Curt Menefee, who is host of “Fox NFL Sunday.” As Menefee tries to focus on football, the other studio members Howie Long (Mikey Day), Jimmy Johnson (James Austin Johnson), Michael Strahan (Devon Walker) and Terry Bradshaw (Molly Kearney) spar over who is a bigger fan of Swift.

Pete Davidson later plays a sideline reporter who also is enamored with Swift.

At the end of the skit, the NFL broadcast is headed to a commercial and a frustrated Menefee says, “When we get back, we are going to speak with someone who actually wants to talk football.”

The camera then cut to a quick shot of Kelce, who made a cameo seven months after he was host of the show.

Later, Swift made a cameo, too. It came when she introduced Ice Spice for her second musical performance.
