While many fans (and the Fox Sports broadcasters) were fixated Sunday on Taylor Swift in a suite at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was happier to see someone else.

His 10-month-old son Bronze.

During his weekly conversation on KCSP (610 AM), Mahomes was asked Monday about his son’s first trip to see dad’s workplace.

“Yeah, it was the first time he got to be on the field and be out there,” said Mahomes, whose daughter, Sterling, is a regular at Chiefs games. “And so it was cool to have him there and have my daughter there and see them on the field before the game. He’ll have a lot of games there.

“I’m glad that he’s able to finally get to see what Arrowhead is about, being on the field, and hopefully one day he’s playing in stadiums like that too.”

Getting to see dad at a professional sports stadium is a Mahomes family tradition. Patrick Mahomes visited clubhouses around Major League Baseball as a kid because his father, Pat, was a pitcher.

Mahomes said he relished those experiences as a youngster.

“It’s really cool as they start to get a little older and you get to see them at the stadium. It’s a special thing that I had as a kid,” Mahomes said. “I got to go to baseball fields and be there and I want him to have the same experiences that I did. To be able to not only be on the field for game days, but be in the locker room to meet the great players that I play around and see what makes them go.”

Now the father of two kids, Mahomes knows how fortunate he is to be a star in the country’s most popular sport.

“I’m extremely grateful that I’m in this place and being able to be a professional athlete,” Mahomes said. “I mean this was my dream ever since I remember to be a professional athlete and I was able to achieve that. And I mean, I thank God for blessing me to be in this position every single day and I don’t take it for granted.”
