For Pete's Sake

A washing machine is the newest attraction at Kauffman Stadium

The newest addition to Kauffman Stadium could mean big bucks for The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City.

As part of a promotion, Maytag has placed a washing machine outside of the Royals’ bullpen — with the top open. It is in the grass area of left field between the fountains and the Hall of Fame suite area.

Should a player (Royals or visiting team) hit a home run into the washer, Maytag will donate $1 million to the local Boys & Girls Clubs in that city, according to a release.*

* If it happens to be a grand slam during the Sonic Slam inning, then it may well be the end of times

The Royals had a chance to hit the million-dollar homer in Chicago, because U.S. Cellular Field is one of the four stadiums in baseball that has the magic washing machine.

The other ballparks: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, and Turner Field in Atlanta.

There’s nothing like good, clean fun at the ballpark, right?
