The newest addition to Kauffman Stadium could mean big bucks for The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City.
As part of a promotion, Maytag has placed a washing machine outside of the Royals’ bullpen — with the top open. It is in the grass area of left field between the fountains and the Hall of Fame suite area.
Should a player (Royals or visiting team) hit a home run into the washer, Maytag will donate $1 million to the local Boys & Girls Clubs in that city, according to a release.*
* If it happens to be a grand slam during the Sonic Slam inning, then it may well be the end of times

The Royals had a chance to hit the million-dollar homer in Chicago, because U.S. Cellular Field is one of the four stadiums in baseball that has the magic washing machine.
The other ballparks: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, and Turner Field in Atlanta.
