Mick Fanning made a name for himself Sunday, and it’s not for winning in his chosen sport.
Fanning is professional surfer who was attacked by a shark during a competition Sunday in South Africa. He was able to fight off the shark and survived unharmed.
The J-Bay Open was televised and the encounter was seen live. Here is a snippet of the video:

Fox Sports posted the video to YouTube.
“I felt something grab, just get stuck in my leg rope,” Fanning said in the video. “I just saw fins. I was waiting for the teeth to come at me. … I punched it in the back.”
