Tight end Jody Fortson shares message for Chiefs fans after having surgical procedure
Although he will miss the 2023 season, Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson is keeping a positive attitude.
The Chiefs on Tuesday placed Fortson on injured reserve after he had a surgical procedure on his shoulder. In late July, Fortson was injured at training camp in St. Joseph.
Fortson on Wednesday wrote a message on his Instagram stories, saying the surgery was a success and sharing a message for Chiefs fans. This is what Fortson wrote (I cleaned up some of the grammar):
“Surgery was a success. First off, I’m going to thank GOD because even though I’m missing the season, I could be missing much, much more than just that. I’m going to continue to give you all the honor and praise and keep my focus on the places we speak about. Thank you in advance because I know it’s already done.
“To my family/friends and fans. Thank you for your unwavering amounts of love and support. As always, I’ll give my absolute best to be the best that I can possibly be.
“GOD willing, I’ll be back doing what I love to do. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
“Extremely thankful for Dr. Kaplan and his entire team down in Miami for getting me headed in the right direction.
“Down but NOT out. This (is) just some more concrete that the rose has to grow through.”
The Athletic’s Nate Taylor shared a screenshot of Fortson’s message.
Fortson had nine receptions and 108 receiving yards with two touchdowns a year ago for the Chiefs.
