Some KU fans worry about lack of parking in stadium renovation; school mulling options

Tuesday was a big day for Kansas football fans.

The University of Kansas and KU Athletics shared renderings that promise a “transformed David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium to open in August 2025.”

For the most part, Jayhawks fans absolutely loved what they saw in the renderings of the football stadium and a video, which was narrated by alum Kevin Harlan.

But there was one concern that seemed to pop up among fans. It had to do with parking spaces around the stadium. Would there be enough of it for tailgating?

The school addressed that potential issue.

KU chancellor Douglas Girod said that parking won’t change too much in the first phase of redevelopment. He added that Kansas is looking at two or three different ideas and that “stacked parking” could be an option.

Here is what fans were saying on X (née Twitter) regarding their concerns about the lack of parking after KU released the renderings of the upgrades coming to the football stadium.
