Justyn Ross hauls in touchdown reception during Chiefs’ preseason game against Saints

There wasn’t much for Chiefs fans to get excited about during the first half of Sunday’s preseason opener against the Saints in New Orleans.

That changed in the third quarter when rookie defensive back Kahlef Hailassie made a great interception with the Chiefs trailing 17-7.

Chiefs backup quarterback Shane Buechele led a 54-yard drive in five plays that was capped by a 15-yard dart to wide receiver Justyn Ross for a touchdown.

Chiefs fans have been buzzing this summer about Ross, who signed last summer as an undrafted free agent. Ross had a fantastic freshman season with 1,000 yards receiving at Clemson.

But Ross had a congenital fusion in his spine and didn’t play in the 2020 season, then a stress fracture in his foot slowed him in 2021. Last year, he missed the 2022 season with the Chiefs after undergoing foot surgery.

There have been a plethora of Ross highlights from training camp, and that carried over to Sunday’s game.

That included this touchdown reception by the 6-4, 210-pound Ross.

This was Ross’ first reception of the game, which came in the third quarter.
