Multiple MLB announcers roasted the Orioles on air for disciplining broadcaster
This is one of the more ludicrous stories out of Major League Baseball this season.
Awful Announcing reported the American League East-leading Baltimore Orioles suspended MASN announcer Kevin Brown for talking about how the team had found success against the Rays after years of struggles.
Seriously, that’s all he did.
To make matters worse, Brown got the statistics from the game notes prepared by the Orioles’ public-relations department, and there was a MASN graphic with his report.
Broadcasters around the league criticized the Orioles on air during games Monday night. That includes both the White Sox and Yankees announcers during a game between those teams.
The Yankees’ John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman were dumbfounded.
“How can you do your job if you can’t tell the truth?” Waldman asked. “But he didn’t even say anything negative. He was extolling how good they are because look what they’ve done this year.”
White Sox broadcaster Jason Benetti used humor while taking a shot at Baltimore.
Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen unloaded on the Orioles, saying the team was once again “draped in humiliation.”
Although he’s not a baseball broadcaster, ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt shared this about Brown’s suspension.
