The biggest story at Chiefs’ training camp has been about a player not in St. Joseph.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones wasn’t at the Chiefs’ first full-squad practice on Sunday as part of a holdout. Jones is set to enter the final year of his contract, and he wants a new long-term deal.

Jones, who is coming off an All-Pro season in which he had 15 1/2 sacks, hasn’t spoken much recently about the situation, but on Monday he took to Twitter (which apparently soon will be called X).

Jones simply wrote: “Wakey wakey”

Chiefs fans wondered if there was a hidden message to be gleaned from that two-word message. Was Jones ready to sign? Or report to camp? Or simply telling people to wake up on a Monday morning?

Perhaps that tweet meant nothing.

Here are some of the responses from Chiefs fans.
