Travis Kelce wasn’t going to let there be a repeat of viral White House moment at ESPYs

There was one viral moment when the Chiefs visited the White House last month.

As President Joe Biden was putting down a jersey he received from the team, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce stepped to the lectern. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes pulled Kelce away before we got to hear exactly what Kelce wanted to say.

It was a humorous scene.

Kelce referenced that Wednesday in a humorous moment at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.

When the Chiefs won the Best Team award, Mahomes, Kelce, defensive tackle Chris Jones and running back Isiah Pacheco took the stage.

Mahomes stepped to the microphone when Kelce intervened.

“Nah, man, you already took one mic from me baby, you ain’t gonna take another,” Kelce said as the crowd laughed. “I got something to say.”

Kelce then talked about the importance of sports in a person’s life and mentioned how much he loves playing for Chiefs Kingdom. That echoed what Mahomes said earlier in the night.

Jones, who is seeking a new contract, stepped up and said he was thankful for the Chiefs organization, general manager Brett Veach and coach Andy Reid.

Then Jones asked Kelce to close out the show with his signature “You’ve Got To Fight For Your Right To Party” line.

Here is the clip of the Chiefs winning the ESPY, including the fun Kelce/Mahomes interaction.
