Chiefs’ Travis Kelce will present award at ESPYs, and his mom will be at ceremony
There will be at least one reason for Chiefs fans to watch Wednesday night’s ESPY Awards.
Tight end Travis Kelce will be among the presenters at the annual award show, which will air at 7 p.m. on ABC (Ch. 9 in Kansas City).
Kelce’s mom, Donna, who was a fan favorite in the days leading up to Super Bowl LVII, will be in attendance at the show. So will Kansas City Current star Sam Mewis and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
There’s a good chance Mahomes will pick up a couple of awards, as he’s been nominated for Best NFL Player and Best Male Athlete. Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who is among the nominees for Best NFL Player, also will be in attendance.
The Chiefs are in the running for the Best Team ESPY. The other nominees are: the Denver Nuggets, Georgia Bulldogs football team, Las Vegas Aces, LSU Tigers women’s basketball team, the Oklahoma Sooners softball team and Las Vegas Golden Knights.
ESPN already announced a few of the honorees.
The Arthur Ashe Award for Courage is going to the U.S. women’s national soccer team, while Chicago White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks, a cancer survivor, will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance. Hendriks previously played for the Royals.
The Pat Tillman Award for Service will go to the Buffalo Bills training staff, which helped save the life of Damar Hamlin.
