How good is golfer Rose Zhang? She has played in a mere seven professional events in her life, but she’s already the 45th ranked women’s golfer in the world.

Zhang, who was a sensation as an amateur at Stanford, won her pro debut last month at the Mizuho Americas Open. Over the weekend, Zhang tied for ninth at the Women’s U.S. Open.

That’s impressive enough on its own, but even more so when you learn of Zhang’s travel issues getting to Pebble Beach.

Golf Week noted Zhang, 20, was at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey from June 21-25. Getting back to California was a hassle.

“Her flight from Philadelphia was canceled after being grounded on the plane for several hours,” Beth Ann Nichols reported. “By the time she got rebooked, there were no rooms left in the city. So at 2 a.m., she slept on the couch in the lobby of an Embassy Suites.

“Later that day Zhang took an Uber to Baltimore, only to have that flight canceled as well. She then made her way to Atlantic City, where she boarded a private flight with her Excel team and Travis Kelce, who was headed to Las Vegas for The Match. Kelce happened to be on the Jersey Shore for a charity outing with his brother.”

Kelce and Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes won The Match against Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, and Kelce had a particularly strong outing.

Perhaps he got a few golf tips from Zhang during the flight across the country that he used to beat the Golden State stars. Given her success on the links, Zhang seems like a good person to hit up for advice.
