For Pete's Sake

KC Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes stars in a new commercial for Adidas

Eagle-eye fans noticed that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a special patch on his Royals jersey during last month’s Big Slick softball game at Kauffman Stadium.

There was nothing special about the patch. It didn’t have any words on it or an image.

The purpose of the patch was simple: to cover the Nike swoosh that is on the right breast of each Royals jersey.

Mahomes, if you didn’t know, is an Adidas endorser, something he apparently takes seriously.

And now there is a new Adidas commercial featuring Mahomes.

The spot also stars Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and basketball players Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston. In the commercial, they wonder about who is the best football player.

But it’s not the NFL-type of football. It’s futbol, and it turns out the spot is about the U.S. women’s national soccer team, which will start play in the World Cup in New Zealand and Australia later this month.

Here is the commercial.
