‘We are not pros:’ Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes implored fans to make space for golf shot

Earlier this week, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted his most nervous moment in sports came at last year’s “The Match.”

Mahomes stepped up to the first tee and saw fans lined up on either side of him. The concern in Mahomes’ mind was an errant shot could hurt someone.

On Thursday night, Mahomes made sure neither he nor teammate Travis Kelce hurt fans on the fifth hole of “The Match.”

The Chiefs stars were playing against Golden State Warriors guards Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. An errant tee shot meant the Chiefs players would be taking their next shot a little ways from the fairway.

Fans were in the area, and Mahomes made sure he and Kelce wouldn’t put anyone in harm’s way.

“All y’all on the right, you need to back up bro,” Mahomes said. “You need to back up. We’re not pros. We are not pros. I’m just telling y’all dog.”

Here’s a longer clip of the fun moment, which includes commentator Charles Barkley saying: “There’s a very fine line between gutsy and stupid.”
