For Pete's Sake

Former KU star Gradey Dick wears red suit inspired by Wizard of Oz to 2023 NBA Draft

Viewers who tune into Thursday’s NBA Draft won’t need to adjust their televisions, although there might be a moment when they feel the need.

That’s because of the fashion choice made by former Kansas Jayhawks star Gradey Dick.

A native of Wichita, Dick went with a sparkling red suit jacket that was inspired by the slippers worn by Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz.” The bottoms of Dick’s shoes also were red.

“So I’m from Kansas,” Dick said in a video shared on Twitter by the NBA. “Dorothy has her little slippers, I’ve got my Dorothy suit.”

Yes he does. And you can see it in this video — which also shows Dick’s new logo — that quickly went viral.

There’s no place like home, as Dorothy noted in the iconic movie, but Dick will be moving soon. Mock drafts from Yahoo Sports, Bleacher Report and CBS Sports all have Dick being taken 11th overall by the Orlando Magic.
