The Chiefs’ offense plays against the defense in practice, but soon the two sides will face off in a sport other than football.

Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s foundation is hosting a charity softball game Friday at Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas. A home run derby will be held at 6 p.m., and the game starts at 7 p.m.

Fans can buy tickets here.

Valdes-Scantling’s Humble Beginnings Foundation aims to “help individuals in economically disadvantaged areas receive aid and resources to better themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. All proceeds from this game will be allocated into the Greater Kansas City Area.”

On the charity’s website, Valdes-Scantling shared this: “Growing up on the south side of St. Petersburg, FL, I saw children in economically disadvantaged areas and a large population of homeless individuals. Personally, I was fortunate enough to have a tremendous family who sacrificed everything to provide for me. My family instilled in me the importance of volunteering and giving back to my community. These same values have carried me through my adult years, volunteering my time and resources is something I take pride in. You never know what a simple gesture can do; with a little bit of giving and compassion I hope to change the lives of others.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who put on a show at the Big Slick softball game last Friday, is among the Chiefs who will play.
