MLB Network Insider put the jinx on Royals’ perfect-game attempt against Cardinals
A no-hitter in baseball is a lot like the movie “Fight Club.”
As Brad Pitt’s Tyler Durden noted in the movie, “The first rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club.”
The same is true of a perfect game or no-hitter until a runner reaches base or the game is over.
With that in mind, here is what MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman shared on Twitter on Monday afternoon as the Royals had a perfect game through seven innings. Check out the time stamp.
Guess what happened seconds later? Yep, Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado ended the Royals’ attempt that the very first combined perfect game in Major League Baseball history. Again, check out the time stamp.
Heyman’s attempt to not jinx the Royals ended up jinxing the Royals. That fact wasn’t lost on fans.
Heyman claimed he tweeted after the perfect game ended, but a fan wasn’t buying it.
Heyman wasn’t alone. The Royals’ Twitter account placed blame on the lost perfecto on Major League Baseball.
