Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be returning to this year’s edition of The Match, and he’s bringing one of his best friends with him.

Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce will be partners in the eighth edition of the made-for-TV golf event. They’ll take on Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson at the Wynn Las Vegas course.

The event is scheduled for June 29 at 5:30 p.m., and it will air on TNT.

“The star-studded pairings include two sports icons making their second appearances in Capital One’s The Match,” event organizers said in a news release. “Mahomes and Curry have both won two Most Valuable Player Awards — in the NFL and NBA, respectively — while Mahomes has been named to five NFL Pro Bowls and Curry to nine NBA All-Star Games. ...

“All four players are among the biggest winners in professional sports today, with both the Kansas City Chiefs and Golden State Warriors currently defending champions in the NFL and NBA, respectively.”

Last summer, Mahomes paired with Bills quarterback Josh Allen in The Match, but they were defeated by Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers on the final hole.

Curry teamed with Peyton Manning in 2020 and lost 4 and 3 to Charles Barkley and Phil Mickelson in Arizona.

Win or lose, Mahomes and Kelce will have a lot of fun on the golf course, as they have in previous editions of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

When is The Match and what channel is it on?

When: 5:30 p.m. on June 29
