The Chiefs on Thursday night picked a former local high school star with the 31st and final pick of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft at Union Station.

Former Lee’s Summit High School and Kansas State defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah heard his name called by Chiefs CEO and chairman Clark Hunt to close out the opening round of the draft.

Chiefs fans shared their thoughts about Anudike-Uzomah being selected in the first round. Here is a sample of what was said on Twitter, Reddit and Facebook.

A fan on Facebook wrote: “This pick has clark hunt all over it. Only draft room not celebrating was us. An owner should never tell his gm not to trade his 1st round pick just because we’re hosting the draft. Hopefully he pans out but this was a reach.”

Another shared this: “If you wanted a DE, trade up and take Nolan Smith”

A fan on Reddit wrote: “I’ll take it. The last time we took a guy from a Chiefs Nation team (Mizzou), it worked out pretty well in Nick Bolton. Hope this guy turns out in the same way. How about thoseee CHIEEFFSS”

Another shared this: “Not who I wanted here, but I’ll take another pass rusher on the edge if the Chiefs believe in beefing up the pass rush.”

This was from a fan on Reddit: “Just kinda whatever decent pick, don’t love it, don’t hate it.”

Another wrote: “Of the options left I wanted Michael Mayer the most, but I don;t dislike this pick at all and there is still a ton of top-end talent available in the 2nd round. It got to where they’d of had to trade out to ruin the draft in my opinion and so I cant complain, may not have been all of our top choice but still a great choice nonetheless”
