Meeting with NFL teams had made Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers a bit tired, but then one text message energized him.

Flowers has visited the Raiders, Patriots, Cowboys, Giants, Bills, Ravens and the Titans ahead of this week’s NFL Draft.

NFL teams can bring up to 30 prospects to their facilities for what is known as a Top 30 visit. Flowers had finished meeting with the Titans when his phone buzzed.

It was a text message from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes asking him to come to Texas.

As he told Rich Eisen on Friday, Flowers isn’t friends with Mahomes, but the Chiefs star identified himself in the text.

“I was like, ‘What the hell? Patrick Mahomes is texting me,’” Flowers recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh, I’m out there, ASAP.’”

Flowers added: “He shot me a text and I was like, if I got a chance to throw with one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL, I got to take that chance so I went and threw with him.”

Eisen asked what it’s like to catch passes from Mahomes.

“The ball is never not on target,” Flowers said. “It’s always put on your chest, it’s right in front of you. To have it like that, it makes the game easier because you can just turn around and make a play because you know the ball is gonna be there. You’ve just got to catch it.”

Flowers said he wasn’t nervous catching passes from the NFL MVP/Super Bowl MVP.

“I was like I do this every day,” Flowers said. “I’ll just go out and do what I do. And I know it’s gonna be clean. I just catch the ball, give a little move after, get my body warmed up. I just treated it like a normal day.”

Here is Flowers’ visit with Eisen.
