Jazz coach shocked former KU star Ochai Agbaji was ejected from Utah’s final game
The Jazz wrapped up their season with a 128-117 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday that served only to help Utah’s chances in the draft lottery.
Despite the lack of importance of the game, it wasn’t without drama.
In the fourth quarter, former Kansas star Ochai Agbaji was ejected after throwing the ball to a referee and possibly saying something to the official.
Take a look.
That didn’t seem to constitute an outburst from Agbaji, who is regarded as one of the nicer players in the NBA.
In fact, Ben Anderson of KSL-TV noted Agbaji was “accused at times by the coaching staff of being too much of a rule follower.”
Jazz coach Will Hardy joked with reporters about Agbaji’s ejection.
“He decided to wait until the 82nd game to get a bad-boy image,” Hardy said, per the Salt Lake Tribute. “He’s the nicest kid on the team besides Walker (Kessler), and then he gets thrown out in the last game of the year. Just add it to the list of wacky things that have happened to the team this season.
“If you had told me tonight that Ochai was gonna get kicked out, I would have said there was no chance in hell that would happen. But we’re nothing if not exciting.”
