One of the reasons the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast is such a big hit is because they don’t always talk football.

That sounds counterintuitive, but sometimes they chat about growing up in Ohio or even “Harry Potter” and it’s usually a lot of fun.

In a recent “New Heights” podcast episode, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce held a mock draft of Easter candy. That turned into a surprisingly spirited debate on all kind of candies.

That includes two that generate a love-hate relationship from people: Peeps and candy corn.

As they picked their go-to Easter candies, Travis Kelce brought up Peeps and that set up hilarious discussion.

Travis: “Oh, oh, marshmallow, there are some sort of marshmallow.”

Jason: “You talking about Peeps?”

Travis: “Is that what it is? Peeps are marshmallow?

Jason: “It is a marshmallow.”

Travis: “That’s the one. That’s the final one. That’s like the Pat Mahomes.”

Jason: “I think Peeps are absolutely disgusting.”

Travis: “Whaaaat?? Classics.”

Jason: “Peeps are one of the most overrated candy in the history of candies.”

Travis: “It’s pure sugar. There’s nothing wrong with it!”

Jason: “If Peeps made eggs they’d make candy corn, and they’d both be the most overrated holiday candy.”

Travis asked: “You don’t like candy corn?”

Jason: “Candy corn is disgusting, Travis. Nobody likes candy corn.”

Travis stated his case again: “What? It’s pure sugar?”

Jason: “The only people that have candy corn are psychopaths and grandmothers.* There’s no other reason why you should have candy corn.”

*Side note: there is one person in The Star sports department who absolutely loves candy corn.

The discussion turned to candy in general, and Jason is a fan of Bueno bars and noted he liked Hi-Chews better than Starburst. Travis didn’t agree with that, but let’s be honest, Mamba is the best of the bunch.

Travis’ favorites include Skittles and Gobstoppers (which set Jason off again).

The brothers curse so I can’t embed the video, but here is a link to the full discussion of Easter candy, and it’s funny how little they know about the different options because neither brought up Starburst jelly beans.
