The Royals’ desire is to be playing in a new downtown stadium as soon as 2027 or 2028, and the team recently pared down the potential sites from 14 to five.

Perhaps then it’s no surprise that the Royals’ new slogan seems to be a nod to the team’s plan to move to a new ballpark.

The team revealed this slogan on Monday — “Welcome to the City” — on its social media platforms. That replaces “Bring Out The Blue” from a year ago.

The Royals’ messages on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram included the thought process behind the new slogan.

“This team belongs to its fans. To its city. To its generations of fans in the stands,” the team wrote. “Welcome to the City is our way to show love. A way for us to plant our flag. Together.

“This team represents the same Midwestern work ethic that’s transformed our city. Brick by brick. Rep after rep. Never afraid of a little hard work. We live with a chip on our shoulder and the grind on our mind.

“This team is the future of the Royals. And we’re here to put in work. Because this city knows you only get what you give.

“The Royals ARE Kansas City, and this season it’s all about what makes our city great. The people. The growth. The future. It’s why we love our home. Because we’re building it. Together. Welcome to the City.”

Here’s the Twitter message the Royals shared.
