Donna Kelce won’t do Super Bowl coin-toss but says NFL made right choice for the honor

More than 150,000 people have signed a petition started by a Chiefs fan to have Donna Kelce do the pregame coin-toss at Super Bowl LVII.

Kelce’s sons will face off in the Super Bowl, the first time siblings have been on opposing teams in the NFL’s biggest game.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce will be captains for the Super Bowl, and it would’ve been cool to have their mother meet them at midfield for the pre-game coin-toss.

But it’s not going to happen.

Donna Kelce shared a message on the Chiefs Chicks Facebook page Sunday night and said the NFL already had a plan for the coin-toss.

“Well I was touched that so many fans wanted me to flip the coin for the Super Bowl this year!!!” Donna Kelce wrote. “Yeah, (well) that is not going to happen!! You know the military is more important than I am, and there’s a lot of people who put their blood, sweat and tears out there for the USA! I have not. I’ve been a banker and sat in a cushy chair for most of my career. The NFL is going to honor one of their own / Pat Tillman!!!”

The Arizona Republic reported that four scholars from the Pat Tillman Foundation will be “coin-toss captains” for the Super Bowl.

Tillman, the former Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State University star, left the NFL in 2002 and joined the U.S. Army months after the Sept. 11 attacks. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.

The Tillman Foundation said the coin-toss captains will be military spouse and Ed.D. candidate Fabersha Flynt, U.S. Army veteran and filmmaker Robert Ham, U.S. Army reservist and developmental psychologist HyeJung Park and U.S. Air Force veteran and physician technologist Dave Prakash.
