Royals announce a replacement for the team’s FanFest event. Here are the details

The Royals canceled FanFest, the team’s kickoff to the season, the previous two years, and the event won’t return in 2023.

Instead, the team on Tuesday announced a new fan event called Royals Rally.

Royals season-ticket holders received an email Monday from the team outlining the event, which will take place Feb. 4 and be held at Kauffman Stadium. Royals FanFest had been at Bartle Hall after moving from the Overland Park Convention Center in 2014.

“Get autographs from your favorite players, tour the clubhouse, hear from Royals coaches and send the Boys in Blue off to Spring Training in style,” the team wrote in the email to season-ticket holders.

The Royals will be selling general-admission tickets for $20, the email says, giving fans access to the visitor’s clubhouse and the Diamond Club, where players will sign autographs and join front-office staff and coaches for talks about the game.

Sluggerrr will be in the pressbox on the sixth floor, along with an area for children, the email said.

A VIP ticket will be offered, too. It will allow fans entry to the Royals’ clubhouse, where the players will sign autographs. Barbecue from six restaurants will be available in the Crown Center Club, the team told season-ticket holders. The VIP option will cost $50 and include the perks of the general-admission ticket.

The Royals said there will be three sessions, and fans should pick the one they want to attend when purchasing tickets. Those are: 10 a.m. to noon, noon to 2 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Jacob Milham, a contributor to the Inside The Royals blog, shared the email about Royals Rally on Twitter, and a team employee confirmed its accuracy.

The Royals said parking at the Truman Sports Complex will be free. More information on the event and ticket information can be found on the team’s website.
