For Pete's Sake

The Chiefs’ strength of schedule should be a little easier in 2023 than this season

If the Chiefs and Bills advance to the AFC Championship Game, we know Buffalo won’t be coming to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to determine who will be going to the Super Bowl.

But the Bills will be at Arrowhead in the 2023 season. So will Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason (should he decide not to retire).

Those are some of the highlights of the Chiefs’ 2023 opponents, which officially were determined once the 2002 season ended.

The Chiefs’ strength of schedule for their 2023 games is ranked 16th, according to Eat, Drink and Sleep Football. That’s squarely in the middle of all NFL teams. Heading into the 2022 season, the Chiefs had one of the NFL’s most difficult schedules.

The Raiders (10th), Chargers (T12th) and Broncos (T12th) all have a more difficult schedule in 2023, which is because they face the Chiefs twice.

Hill, the former Chiefs receiver, and the Dolphins will play at Arrowhead, along with the NFC’s top-seeded team, the Eagles. Philadelphia’s center is Jason Kelce, who is Travis’ brother. One of those matchups could change if the Chiefs play in Germany, which is a distinct possibility.

The Chiefs will play eight games against teams in the playoffs this month: Eagles, Bills, Bengals, Dolphins, Vikings, Jaguars and Chargers (twice). They’ll also face the NFC North teams, which includes the Bears, who have the top pick in the NFL Draft.

Here are the Chiefs’ opponents in 2023.
