Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes joins three NFL legends by reaching two big statistical marks

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to cement his place as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

During Saturday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Mahomes surpassed 4,500 passing yards on the season.

Mahomes needed just 4 yards to reach the mark, and he got there on the first offensive snap of the game. Mahomes’ 8-yard pass to tight end Noah Gray gave Mahomes 4,504 yards passing.

In the first half, Mahomes had a pair of touchdown passes, giving him 37 on the season.

This is the fourth time in Mahomes’ five seasons as the Chiefs starter that he has reached 4,500 passing yards or more and 35 or more touchdown throws.

The Chiefs noted only three players in NFL history have reached those statistical plateaus four times in a season. The others are Tom Brady (five times), Drew Brees (four times) and Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (four times).

That’s pretty good company for Mahomes to join, and he did it in a mere five seasons.
