For Pete's Sake

‘Sunday Night Football’ intro shows camera operators talking about Mahomes’ greatness

For all the amazing things Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has done in his career, one thing has remained constant: the camera operators have always gotten the shot.

But it apparently isn’t always easy.

For its introduction to the “Sunday Night Football” matchup between the Chiefs and Titans, NBC Sports had its camera operators narrate a segment about Mahomes and Tennessee running back Derrick Henry.

The focus was mainly on Mahomes.

Camera operators Mike Croke, Christiana Glendon, Mark Stacey, Mark Lynch and Jock Leeson took turns detailing Mahomes’ wizardry. Here is what they said:

“How do you keep him in the shot when you never know where he’s going to go? Think about what we’re dealing with here. The no-look passes, the shovel passes, the arm angles. We even had a full 360 spin. Sometimes it feels like he’s not just trying to fake out the defense but us too.

“Hey Patrick, bring on all your Mahomes magic. We’re ready for you.”

This is a fun introduction for the game.
