Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman made an early impact in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Hardman caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the first quarter, then scored on a jet sweep in the second quarter. Hardman covered 25 yards on the rush that helped give the Chiefs a 14-13 lead.

Helping pave the way for Hardman was tight end Noah Gray, who blocked 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward. Gray then also was in position to keep linebacker Dre Greenlaw from getting to Hardman.

Fans were appreciative of the big block.

The Chiefs led 14-13 at halftime.
