KU football’s 3-0 start this season has even caught the attention of the Goodyear Blimp
A blimp hovering over a stadium or city can be a majestic sight for anyone who catches a glimpse of it.
Often, a blimp is used to provide aerial coverage of a big sporting event, such as a football or baseball game. And other times, it’s over a city for a different reason.
On Monday, a Goodyear Blimp was seen by people flying over Lawrence.
One person in Lawrence asked on Twitter: “Why did the Goodyear Blimp just flyover?!”
The Goodyear Blimp social media team responded to the tweet with this message: ”When @KU_Football starts the season 3-0, we send the blimp to Lawrence. Those are just the rules. #RockChalk”
The Jayhawks crushed Houston 48-30 on Saturday and improved to 3-0 on the season, and apparently that fast start hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Goodyear Blimp folks.
But that tweet was all in good fun, as it turns out that Goodyear Blimp (one of three) was actually passing by, as it was headed for Topeka.
The Goodyear Blimp shared that bit of info after a person in Columbia, Missouri asked why the airship was above the city.
