For Pete's Sake

Chiefs fans were tailgating at the tollgate Thursday, hours before parking lot opened

Chiefs fans took tailgating to a new level on Thursday.

Nearly four hours before the parking lot gates opened Thursday at the Truman Sports Complex, Chiefs fans were already in line. But that doesn’t mean fans had to wait before the tailgating began.

As the NFL Network’s James Palmer noted in a video he shared on Twitter, Chiefs fans had started a “full-on tailgate before you tailgate.”

Palmer said in the video one reason he likes to arrive early to Arrowhead Stadium on game days is to see the long line of cars and trucks waiting to enter the parking lots. Palmer said in his video it was 10:52 a.m., and the lots don’t open until 2:30 p.m. for the “Thursday Night Football” game between the Chiefs and Chargers.

The game kicks off at 7:15 p.m.

Palmer noted the number of people who arrived early Thursday rivaled a playoff game, and he called it “bonkers.”

This is an impressive showing from Kansas City fans, and actor/Chiefs supporter Eric Stonestreet commented on the fans.
