For Pete's Sake

Mets mascot smashed whipped-cream pie in the face of an unsuspecting Yankees fan

Tuesday was a tough night for Yankees fans, who watched their favorite team lose 6-3 to their crosstown rival, the Mets.

It was even rougher for one particular Yankees fan. He was invited to take part in a contest that had him identify Yankees players by a photo. Each picture included the player with a fake beard.

The Yankees fan guessed the first four correct but then missed the final one.

“Since you didn’t go five-for-five, you’re not winning the grand prize,” the Mets’ in-game host said. “Here is your prize...”

Mr. Met, the team mascot, then came up from behind and smashed a whipped-cream pie in the fan’s face. The Mets fans at Citi Field gave a loud cheer.

That might have been staged, but it was funny and the fans loved it. And, hey, you can’t beat fun at the ballpark.
