For Pete's Sake

Humorous Hot Dog Race at Royals game made SportsCenter’s ‘NOT Top 10’ list on ESPN

The Royals’ Hot Dog Race has been a staple at Kauffman Stadium since the 1980s, and there have been many funny competitions through the years.

Putting fans in big foam costumes and asking them to run on the field can result in epic falls. That was the case earlier this month during a Royals-Guardians game when the pants of Mustard’s suit began to fall.

The fan’s feet got tangled in the costume, and gravity took care of the rest. The fan face-planted and fortunately the foam provides sufficient cushioning. That race was featured Friday on SportsCenter’s “NOT Top 10” list on ESPN.

This appears to be the kid’s version of the race, and it ranked 10th on the SportsCenter list.

This is one ranking in which it is better to be lower (or not mentioned at all), so a Sporting Kansas City play being No. 2 isn’t exactly a badge of honor.

It was the own goal in a 1-1 tie with Minnesota earlier this month.

Here is the entire “NOT Top 10” compilation from ESPN.
