For Pete's Sake

Guardians player hit a ball that got stuck on top of the wall at Kauffman Stadium

The Royals’ 13-1 loss Saturday to the Cleveland Guardians was imminently forgettable except for one play.

In the top of the eighth inning, with Royals center fielder Michael A. Taylor pitching, Cleveland catcher Luke Maile hit a drive to left field. The Royals’ Kyle Isbel turned to see if he could play the ball off the wall or if it would land in the stands.

The answer: Neither.

The ball actually got stuck on the top of the wall for a ground-rule double.

“You don’t see that everyday,” one of the Guardians broadcasters said.

Indeed you don’t. Here is the video from Jomboy.

“I’m doubles-only this year, apparently,” Maile joked in a postgame interview. “No matter what I do, it’s not leaving (the park).”
