Chiefs’ Travis Kelce opens up about his love for Kansas City, why it’s home for him now
The American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament is set to start Friday, but the fun started days before.
The Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are playing in the tournament again, and they’ve been signing autographs for fans in South Tahoe Lake, Nevada.
That includes the arm of a fan, who got Mahomes’ signature on top of a big tattoo of the Chiefs quarterback. That fan then turned the autograph into another tattoo.
Kelce wasn’t involved in anything quite so odd. But he did chat with Joe Chiodo, the head of media relations for the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. The Stowers Institute, which is headquartered in Kansas City, is the official charity of the American Century Championship.
Kelce was asked about money raised at the golf tournament going to a charitable organization in Kansas City. Then Kelce, who grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was asked about representing Kansas City in the tournament.
I thought Kelce gave an insightful answer.
“It’s the best. I love KC. It’s home for me now,” Kelce said. “Over the past 10 years, I’ve grown a lot of love for it because of how much the community really feeds off each other and how much they support each other. That’s the best, man.
“When we can come together for a good cause and really make a difference. That’s everything to me, and Kansas City’s always for that.”
