For Pete's Sake

Former Chiefs defensive back would like to be a pregame drum honoree in 2022 season

It’s been four years since Ron Parker played for the Kansas City Chiefs, but he hopes to return to Arrowhead Stadium this fall in a decidedly different role.

Parker, a defensive back who played with the Chiefs for the majority of his eight seasons in the NFL, made 77 starts with KC from 2013-18. He had 11 interceptions, including one pick-six, and eight sacks during his time in Kansas City.

In the Chiefs’ four postseason games in the 2015, ‘16 and ‘17 seasons, Parker played every snap.

Parker is not aiming to make a comeback at age 34. But he would like to be the pregame drum honoree at some point in the 2022 season.

“Chiefs I’m trying to beat on the drum this year wats up? Just 1 game opener,” Parker wrote in a Twitter message.

The 6-foot, 206-pound Parker, who played at Newberry College, joined the NFL in 2011 after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks.

After stops with the Panthers and Raiders, Parker joined the Chiefs.

Some fans seemed open to the idea of having Parker return for the ceremony, but at least one was vehemently against it. And Parker had a funny response to that fan.
