Mets signed ex-Royals outfielder Terrance Gore and some fans think it’s a good omen
Some might look at outfielder Terrance Gore’s career statistics and be impressed by his 40 stolen bases in just 102 career regular-season games.
But a deeper dive shows an incredible achievement: Gore has three World Series rings.
Gore, who turned 31 on Wednesday, was drafted by the Royals in 2011 and played in two Fall Classics, getting his first ring in 2015. After a stint with the Cubs, who made the playoffs in 2018 with Gore, he won a World Series with the Dodgers in 2020 and again last season with Atlanta.
That championship pedigree is why some Mets fans were thrilled the team signed him to a minor-league contract, as Jacob Resnick of SNY.tv. reported.
Gore never played for the Braves during the regular season last year, and his last MLB game experience came for the Dodgers in 2020. The last plate appearance for Gore was on July 5, 2019 with the Royals.
But MLB franchises that have Gore have made the postseason six times since 2014 (he was in the Yankees’ system in 2019). Some Mets fans recognize Gore’s playoff pedigree and were excited he’d been signed.
