For Pete's Sake

Royals fan’s knowledge of geometry helped him catch two fouls balls in one inning

Kansas City Royals fans had much to cheer about in the eighth inning of Saturday’s 6-0 win against the Houston Astros at Kauffman Stadium.

The applause wasn’t limited to the Royals batting around and scoring four runs to break open the game. A fan in the upper deck behind home plate was celebrated after making a pair of catches on foul balls in the eighth inning.

In addition to using his cap for both catches, the fan showed off his geometry skills, as he played one ball off a carom when it hit an awning. The fan was positioned perfectly to make the grab.

The second catch was a little tougher but he got the ball, making it a memorable day for this Royals fan.

Here is the video from Bally Sports Kansas City, and check out that catch off the awning. The fan knew just where the ball was going (hey, geometry is all about the angles).
