Royals minor-leaguer Vinnie Pasquantino hit home run completely out of Omaha’s stadium
In his first 11 games of the season at Triple-A Omaha, first baseman/designated hitter Vinnie Pasquantino was hitting just .235 with one extra-base hit: a double.
But since then, Pasquantino has been on a roll. He’s slashing .287/.373/.685 with 10 home runs, 11 doubles and 35 RBIs in his last 29 games. Pasquantino has struck out 17 times and drawn 14 walks in that span.
In the Storm Chasers’ 8-6 win over St. Paul on Sunday, Pasquantino was 3 for 4 with a double, home run and five RBIs. The home run was a massive blast that was hit out of Werner Park.
Pasquantino, who is 6 foot 4 and 245 pounds, hit 13 home runs and 20 doubles in 61 games at High-A Quad Cities last year. He was promoted to Double-A Northwest Arkansas and clubbed 11 homers and 17 doubles in 55 games. Pasquantino collected 42 RBIs for both teams in 2021.
Pasquantino knows he’s so close and yet so far away from the Royals. The next step up from Triple-A baseball is the majors, but Pasquantino currently is not on the Royals’ 40 man roster.
Pasquantino, who was selected by the Royals in the 11th round of the 2019 draft, told WTKR-TV earlier this month, is focused on being the best version of himself.
“It’s tough because for everybody that’s in that clubhouse, you want to be a Major League Baseball player,” Pasquantino said. “To be at the level right underneath major leagues, everybody knows that you’re an injury or something away from getting that call.
“What I’m focused on is what I can control, and that’s having good at-bats and playing good defense at first, and things will work themselves out.”
