Should the Chiefs sign cornerback James Bradberry, who was cut by Giants? Vote now
Cornerback James Bradberry’s first six NFL seasons have been mostly a success.
He was a Pro Bowl player in 2020 and has 15 career interceptions, including 10 in the last three seasons, with 82 passes defended.
But Bradberry, who turns 29 in August, was released Monday by the Giants in what was seen as a cost-cutting move. New York cleared $10.1 million in salary cap space, ESPN reported, and Giants general manager Joe Schoen had been doing his best to trade Bradberry.
“I thought there would be more interest.,” Schoen told WFAN Sports Radio, per ABC News. There were some teams that showed interest pre-draft, and we had a couple different times there were compensation in place and the contract never worked out. Being the fact that we did have good talks with the other teams and their agents had good talks with teams, sometimes if you’re going to renegotiate a contract and couldn’t come to an agreement, it is what it is.”
The Raiders are reportedly interested in signing Bradberry, and the Chiefs could be a suitor, too. That’s according to Aaron Wilson of the Pro Football Network.
And CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin listed the Chiefs as a possible new team for Bradberry.
But is there room for Bradberry? The Chiefs selected four cornerbacks in the NFL Draft: Trent McDuffie (Washington), Joshua Williams (Fayetteville State) and Jaylen Watson (Washington State), as well as a pair of safeties.
The Chiefs also traded for Texans cornerback Lonnie Johnson, and already have Rashad Fenton and L’Jarius Sneed.
Should the Chiefs make an effort to sign Bradberry? Vote in our poll and/or leave a comment.
