Two of the three most-anticipated 2022 games involve Chiefs, says NFL Network writer
Over the past four years the Chiefs have played in a number of classic games.
There’s Super Bowl LIV, the 51-31 comeback/blowout of the Texans, the AFC Championship Game win over the Titans and that overtime victory against the Chargers on “Thursday Night Football.”
But nothing will top the Chiefs’ 42-36 overtime win over the Bills in January’s AFC Divisional playoff game, right? That walk-off victory is sure to be on any list of the NFL’s top games for the foreseeable future.
We will get a rematch this fall when the Bills return to Arrowhead Stadium for a regular-season matchup. That game tops NFL Media analyst Nick Shook’s list of the top 10 games of the 2022 season.
The full 2022 NFL schedule will be released Thursday night, but Shook expects the Chiefs-Bills game to air in prime time.
Here is part of what Shook wrote: “We should take a moment to thank the scheduling gods for delivering a rematch of the best game of the 2021 season, and perhaps ever. Add in the fact an overtime coin toss between these two teams influenced the league to change its postseason overtime rules, and you have a matchup rich in storylines. (Bills QB Josh) Allen and (the Chiefs’ Patrick) Mahomes are the new faces of the NFL, and both teams enter 2022 with visions of kissing the Lombardi Trophy in February. Only one can get there, though, and they might have to go through each other to do so.”
Also making the top 10 list: the Chiefs’ game against the Buccaneers. That is ranked third.
“Kansas City returns to a place that delivered its most frustrating and painful loss in ages,” Shook wrote in part. “Will we see a different result more than a year after they last met?”
