Scenes from a Chiefs draft party in Germany: Audio issues, the chop and a soccer star

Oliver Bierhoff will long be a hero to German sports fans, because his overtime goal won the 1996 European Championship.

Bierhoff is now the national team director of the German Football Association.

On Saturday, Bierhoff turned his attention to American football as he was chosen to announce the Chiefs’ fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Chiefs selected Fayetteville State cornerback Joshua Williams, but viewers at home had a tough time understanding what was being said.

This wasn’t because of Bierhoff’s accent, but rather it had to do with audio issues that left Rich Eisen asking on the NFL Network: “What is happening in that place? I don´t know what that was.”

There was no official word about the audio problems, but the German fans were in full throat, doing the Arrowhead chop.

Here is another look, and it answers the question: “If the Chiefs play in Germany, will fans do the chop?”

And here are a couple more photos of German fans at the watch party.
