Former Royals pitcher Ian Kennedy will have an estate sale at his Overland Park home
A Royals fan could hit the links with former Kansas City pitcher Ian Kennedy’s golf bag. Or maybe put Kennedy’s shuffleboard table in their house. Or perhaps use Kennedy’s washer and dryer.
These are all options, because Kennedy is having an estate sale at his soon-to-former home in Overland Park. Brown Button Estate Sales is holding the sale, which begins Thursday and ends Saturday.
The sale, which will take place at 18283 Melrose Dr. in Overland Park, will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. On Friday, items will be 20% off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then 35% off from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. On Saturday, everything will be 50% off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then 70% off from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., when the sale ends.
Kennedy, who last pitched for the Royals in 2020, is now with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
“We do all the contents of the home,” said Michael Fry, co-founder of Brown Button, which specializes in luxury home estate sales. “We do everything except the real estate. The real estate already has an offer. So that closes here in a few weeks. They move out, they take with them what they love and then our company does everything else.”
All proceeds from this estate sale will be donated to Consider The Lily, a non-profit organization in the Philippines that helps rescue girls from exploitation.
Kennedy left behind some of his memorabilia that will be raffled off. That includes a signed camouflage Royals Memorial Day jersey, a bobblehead and baseball signed by Alex Gordon, a bat signed by Hunter Dozier, and a framed print signed by Ian Kennedy and several San Diego Padres players.
There also will be a 50-50 raffle.
But the bulk of the money raised for charity will come from items in the 12,500-square foot home. The Brown Button website noted some of the items to be sold will be “furniture and home decor including pieces by Hickory Chair, Bernhardt, Alfonso Marina, Century, & Drexel Heritage.”
