On Sept. 17, 2015, no one had heard of the TV shows “Stranger Things” or “This Is Us.” Barack Obama was still president, the iPhone 6 was Apple’s latest model and the Royals had yet to win their most recent World Series.

There is one other item of note about Sept. 17, 2015: It was the last time the Denver Broncos beat the Chiefs.

The Chiefs have defeated their AFC West rival 13 straight times, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes has started the last nine of those games.

Mahomes has a 50-13 record as a starter in the NFL, and that includes a 9-0 mark against the Broncos (Alex Smith won the other four games in that 13-game stretch).

In his first career NFL start, Mahomes and the Chiefs won 27-24 win at Denver on Dec. 31, 2017. Here are the rest of the games in the series:

Oct. 1, 2018: Chiefs 27, at Broncos 23

Oct. 28, 2018: At Chiefs 30, Broncos 23

Oct. 17, 2019: Chiefs 30, Broncos 9 (Mahomes was injured in this game)

Dec. 15, 2019: At Chiefs 23, Broncos 3

Oct. 25, 2020: Chiefs 43, at Broncos 16

Dec. 6, 2020: At Chiefs 22, Broncos 16

Dec. 5, 2021: At Chiefs 22, Broncos 9

Jan. 8, 2022: Chiefs 28, at Broncos 24

The reason for the history lesson? NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger took a deep dive into Mahomes’ dominance over the Broncos, highlighting some of his amazing passes and runs against Denver.

Baldinger’s video goes in chronological order, starting with Mahomes’ first NFL start.

“The Broncos got a taste of just what this Patrick Mahomes guy was going to be like for the next five years,” Baldinger said. “Just like that, the domination of Patrick Mahomes against the Broncos would begin.”

At one point, Baldinger noted how Mahomes had crushed the Broncos’ spirits in a game.

“You can see the despair by the Broncos right there,” Baldinger said. “Guys hanging their heads, just not having any idea how to stop him.”

Here is how to watch that breakdown from Baldinger.
