Mitch Lightfoot channeled Patrick Mahomes at KU’s parade and the Chiefs QB approved
The NCAA champion KU men’s basketball team was fêted by thousands of adoring fans during Sunday’s parade in Lawrence.
Kansas’ players and coaches heard cheers from the Jayhawks supporters who lined Massachusetts Street.
Forward Mitch Lightfoot received even something from the fans: a can of beer. Lightfoot made a nifty catch and downed the beverage. Twitter user No Context Kansas Basketball shared a look:
A player shotgunning a can of beer is a parade tradition, and Chiefs fans likely remember this moment from quarterback Patrick Mahomes during the celebration in Kansas City following Super Bowl LIV.
As you can see, Lightfoot and Mahomes shared a similar technique with the one-handed catch and then downing the beverage quickly.
After the parade, Lightfoot retweeted the video and asked Mahomes, “did I do this right?”
Mahomes responded with three flexed bicep emojis, an indication that he had approved.
