For Pete's Sake

Here is the call of KU winning NCAA title from Brian Hanni, the ‘Voice of the Jayhawks’

Brian Hanni is in his sixth season calling Kansas men’s basketball games on the radio, and the “Voice of the Jayhawks” reached the pinnacle of broadcasting on Monday night.

Hanni had the call of Kansas winning its fourth NCAA Tournament national championship when the Jayhawks defeated North Carolina 72-69 in New Orleans.

The Tar Heels had one final chance to tie but Caleb Love’s shot was off the mark.

This was Hanni’s call of Kansas winning the title: “(Jalen) Wilson will guard the entry pass. Carolina looking for a home run ball. Gets it in to Love. KU not fouling. Love fades, shoots. He misses! He misses! And Kansas will win! It’s a banner year for Kansas basketball! Your Jayhawks are national champions! Ochai Abaji comes running over to give us a hug. Love you brother!”

Here is the video from Twitter user Timothy Burke:

This is how Westwood One’s Kevin Kugler called the Jayhawks’ historic victory: “Love will put it on the deck with 3 seconds, with 2, three at the top of the key ... it is no good! It is just short and the last No. 1 seed is the nation’s No. 1 team! Kansas for the fourth time in school history, men’s basketball national champions!”

Timothy Burke had the video again:

Here is the Spanish-language call from Westwood One’s Rafa El Alcalde, if you are interested in hearing about Los Jayhawks de Kansas. Again from Timothy Burke:
