KU basketball fans were not exactly enamored with NCAA president Mark Emmert heading into Monday night’s national championship game in New Orleans.

Emmert didn’t gain any points with Jayhawks supporters after Kansas rallied for a 72-69 win over North Carolina. During the trophy ceremony, Emmert congratulated the “Kansas City Jayhawks” before correcting himself.

Perhaps Emmert was thinking of the Kansas City Roos when he made the mistake.

Whatever the case, this wasn’t one shining moment for Emmert.

Unfortunately for Emmert, the verbal gaffe didn’t go unnoticed. Fans of KU and others roasted Emmert on Twitter.

Here is a sample of what was being said.
