City in Georgia will honor Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill with his own day
Long before he became a star with the Chiefs, Tyreek Hill was being noticed for his athletic feats. But it wasn’t only in football.
Hill, who was born in Pearson, Georgia, attended high school in nearby Douglas. Mile Split USA noted that while Hill was at Coffee County High School in 2012, he was the first prep runner in Georgia state history to break 21 seconds in the 200 meter dash at the state championships.
The city of Douglas is proud of Hill, who has gone on to become a six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, an All-Pro and a Super Bowl champion.
On Saturday, the city will celebrate “Tyreek Hill Day.”
“We are so proud of Tyreek’s accomplishments; his football career began right here in Coffee County when he played for our Coffee County Trojans,” Mayor Tony Paulk said on the city’s website. “Weather forecast for rain changed the Sports Complex Grand Opening, but our community will honor our Coffee High Trojan, NFL Superstar, and Super Bowl Champion, Tyreek Hill. I want everyone to show their support for Tyreek by showing how excited we are that he is visiting Douglas on Saturday at the gym!”
Hill is expected to take part in the ceremony.
